Thisarticlehasbeenacceptedforinclusioninafutureissueofthisjournal.Contentisfinalaspresented,withtheexceptionofpagination.IEEETRANSACTIONSONINTELLIGENTTRANSPORTATIONSYSTEMS1RoadDamageDetectionBasedonUnsupervisedDisparityMapSegmentationRuiFan,Member,IEEE,andMingLiu,SeniorMember,IEEEAbstract—Thisarticlepresentsanovelroaddamagedetectionalgorithmbasedonunsuperviseddisparitymapsegmentation.Firstly,adisparitymapistransformedbyminimizinganenergyfunctionwithrespecttostereorigrollangleandroaddisparityprojectionmodel.Insteadofsolvingthisenergyminimizationproblemusingnon-linearoptimizationtechniques,wedirectlyfinditsnumericalsolution.ThetransformeddisparitymapisthensegmentedusingOtus’sthresholdingmethod,andthedamagedroadareascanbeextracted.Theproposedalgorithmrequiresnoparameterswhendetectingroaddamage.Theexperimentalresultsillustratethatourproposedalgorithmperformsbothaccuratelyandefficiently.Thepixel-levelroaddamagedetectionaccuracyisapproximately97.56%.Thesourcecodeispubliclyavailableat:https://
